Nuclei in
host plant cells, affected at various intensities, or in cells bordering them
are illustrated. Unusually voluminous nuclei with pronounced indentations or
cleavage, with also large nucleoli and irregular envelopes, particularly in recently
deposited tissue, are shown. As an introduction to the next paper, attention is
drawn to some structural components (dot-like and tentatively called
P-elements) that occur in the heterochromatin and in mitochondria. Examples of
nuclei marked with 3HThymidine or with an anti-DNA monoclonal
antibody are equally given.
